Director of Billing position

Diagnostic Pathology Medical Group (DPMG) an independently owned, multispecialty pathology group, has been a leader in delivering quality services to hospitals, clinical laboratories, research institutions and other physician specialties for over 80 years.

The Director of Billing will oversee the overall policies, objectives, and initiatives of DPMG’s revenue cycle activities. Reviews, designs, and implements processes surrounding billing, third party payer relationships, compliance, collections, and other financial analyses to ensure that DPMG’s revenue cycle is effective and properly utilized. The Director of Billing manages the department’s staff and activities including billing, claims management, and collaborating with contracted partners (insurance carriers, managed care plans, IPA, etc.) to assure timely receipt of revenue related to services rendered.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following:
• Manages the revenue cycle process from patient requisition to final payment.
• Balances all digital patient transactions and reports month end statistics for financial reporting.
• Processes weekly transfer files between reporting and billing systems.
• Performs monthly bad debt /collections process and forwards accounts to outside collection agency.
• Contact person for resolving billing errors or discrepancies with all insurance carrier issues.
• Updates fee schedules, adds new service codes and fees.
• Stays up-to-date on CPT and ICD10 code changes and makes necessary requests to update codes within the operating systems.
• Reconciles quarterly capitated reporting.
• Produces system generated reports and spreadsheets as requested by the Practice Administrator.
• Processes overpayments, refund checks and credits accounts to patients and insurances.
• Reviews and proposes new insurance contracts, as needed.
• Coordinates the addition of new pathologists to each insurance contract.
• Provide support and training to staff regarding revenue cycle processes.
• Oversees billing department staff and coordinates daily responsibilities, as required, to optimize work flow.
• Responsible for Administrative requirements for the billing department (Payroll portal transactions and timesheets).
• Works closely with pathologist assigned to MIPS program to ensure compliance and data completion.
• Stays up-to-date with changes in healthcare regulations and insurance policies.
• Maintains the security and privacy of protected health information in accordance with the HIPAA Privacy Rule.
• Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises employees in the Billing department.

Location: This position is onsite full time at the DPMG office.

Education and/or Experience: Degree in Accounting Finance, Business or Healthcare preferred with 5+ years of progressive management and experience in a pathology, radiology or healthcare setting preferred.

Computer Skills: Experience using Office Suite (Required), Powerpath, Cortex and Waystar is preferred.

Other Skills and Abilities:
• Strong knowledge of healthcare management and medical billing processes.
• Proficient in using revenue cycle management software and electronic health record systems.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to analyze complex data
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to resolve billing issues effectively
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to concentrate and work independently within time constraints

Pay: $100,000.00 – $130,000.00 per year
